Dinara Mukh shares her female health founder’s story, covering her personal journey with women’s health and how this led to a TEDx talk and a purpose led entrepreneurial journey as a certified women’s health and nutritional coach.


How did your journey as a female health founder begin?


My journey as a female health founder began unexpectedly coming from personal struggles that I’ve experienced for years before I took the plunge into entrepreneurship. It all began when I was in my early 20s, every month my periods felt like a battlefield inside me. It was so excruciating that once I mistook it for an appendicitis emergency and called an ambulance.

Can you believe the ambulance medic brushed it off as “just a period”? “Nothing to worry about,” they said, handing me painkillers. 

But how could I not worry when the pain was that bad?

Frustrated, I went to my doctor who then casually prescribed birth control pills. The kind I put on gave me side effects so I was prescribed another type – same story. After I tried five different types I realised this wasn’t for me. 

My periods remained agonizingly heavy and painful draining me of energy and made me anemic, caused hair loss and a plummet in self-confidence. It was a dark time.

Then a friend suggested I read on menstrual and hormonal health. What I discovered was mind-blowing. My menstrual cycle wasn’t just about presence and absence of a period, it was a delicate ebb and flow of hormones affecting changes in my body and mind every 28 days. Suddenly my fluctuating appetite, moods, and energy made sense—I wasn’t going crazy – I was simply designed that way.

With that I took self-care seriously, adjusted my nutrition, movement, and lifestyle to sync with my monthly hormonal rhythm. And within two months, the transformation was staggering. Pain went, inflammation reduced, my head felt clear and my energy stabilized. I felt like I found the secret to the universe.

I began speaking with other women about this only to find them equally surprised and inspired. I’ve always had a passion for health and wellness but this was different—it was life-changing, with the potential to impact countless women’s lives.

I wanted to make a difference. I enrolled into getting a certification as a health coach, delving deep into hormone studies and launching my own coaching practice. Witnessing women go through remarkable transformations lit a fire within me.

Since then I’ve helped so many women in my coaching practice,  spoke on TEDx stage, podcasts, interviewed on national radio, and spoke to a variety of organizations advocating for women’s health. 

What inspired you to venture into this field of women’s health?

It was my own journey of transformation. There’s a huge power in witnessing people change their lives and health but experiencing that transformation firsthand is a game-changer.

The pain that once held me back went away, replaced by energy and clarity. I felt like I had unlocked the secrets to true well-being. 

My own journey wasn’t just about me—it was a beacon of hope for other women struggling with similar issues.

What does ‘period health’ mean? And why is it important for female founders to not neglect it?

Understanding “period health” is vital for female founders because it encompasses more than just menstruation—it’s a reflection of overall well-being. 

Just as we monitor temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, our menstrual cycle serves as a fifth vital sign offering insights into our health.

When our periods deviate from the norm, whether it’s irregularity, intense pain, or unusual symptoms – it’s a red flag. Ignoring these signs is like ignoring a high fever – it’s a call to action.

For too long, periods have been considered a taboo topic but it’s time to change that narrative. By embracing period health women can empower themselves with knowledge about their bodies, ensuring they’re in tune with their health needs.

Tell us more about the impacts of stress on your cycle? 

Stress is the biggest hormonal disruptor for women today.

It’s because stress can throw hormonal balance off and, as a result, double the risk of severe PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome). PMS is a mix of physical, emotional, and psychological symptoms and can easily disrupt professional and personal lives.

So how does stress worsen PMS? When you’re stressed – stress hormones flood your body and block mood-regulating, sleep-improving, and nervous system-calming hormones. This creates a rollercoaster of symptoms.

But it doesn’t stop there. Long-term chronic stress can prevent you from ovulating, impact fertility and the production of important hormones essential for bone, heart, and brain health. Without these hormones, the body misses out on crucial benefits. And the effects of stress aren’t limited to your current cycle because stress can throw off future cycles, messing with balance months in advance.

Stress management is vital for hormonal resilience. I always recommend finding stress management activities that you enjoy. To me it’s taking a leisurely walk, unplugging from social media, reading a good book, or treating myself to a massage.

As a women in business, what obstacles have your faced in establishing your company? And how have you overcome them?

Establishing my company didn’t come without challenges particularly due to the taboo surrounding periods. 

For too long, women were told to brush off period symptoms and simply pop painkillers. But ignoring these signs does a  massive disservice to our bodies.

I had to build my audience around extensive education to understand the importance of hormonal and period health which required patience which, honestly, I sometimes struggle with. It’s a slow process, but one I’m deeply committed to.

To overcome these obstacles meant I had to get creative in how I positioned my services and seek guidance from mentors who understood the landscape. Despite all that, my passion for the work kept me going, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth.

How do you see the landscape of online women’s health evolving to fill the gender health gap?

Online women’s health is changing fast to address the gap in gender health. Women are fed up with being ignored or mistreated so we’re speaking out. Many of us have felt dismissed at the doctor’s office because of our menstrual cycles. As more women share their stories, health becomes more relatable and real. It’s not just about facts and figures anymore—it’s about personal experiences. This shift is making people more interested in women’s health online, and it’s happening quickly.

Can you pinpoint a particular strategy that has been pivotal to the success of your business?

One key strategy that has truly shaped the success of my business is syncing my activities with my menstrual cycle. This simple yet powerful approach has changed how I work and made me more efficient and aligned with my strengths.

At first it might seem unconventional but by recognizing the different phases of my cycle and how they impact my energy, focus, and creativity, I’ve been able to optimise my productivity.

During my high-energy days, I tackle demanding tasks, interviews, podcast recordings and strategic planning. As my energy naturally dips, I focus on more deep work like admin, finances and writing.

This strategy has not only improved my work but it also supports my health.
